This course is designed for individuals working with children and young people, providing essential skills to recognise signs of abuse and neglect and respond appropriately. It covers key child protection legislation, duty of care, and correct reporting procedures, along with how to handle disclosures sensitively and maintain accurate documentation. Participants will gain practical knowledge to identify risks early, take appropriate action, and contribute to creating safe, supportive environments for children and young people.

On successful completion of this course, students will be eligible for a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for:

ABC First Aid aim to issue Statement of Attainments within 24 hours of verifying all completion requirements, provided all USI, fees and charges have been finalised.
There are no pre-requisites for this course.
Foundation skills are the underpinning communication skills required for participation in the workplace, the community and in adult education and training.
• Learning – to understand child protection responsibilities and reporting procedures.
• Reading – to identify signs of harm, interpret policies and review case information.
• Writing – to complete documentation such as incident reports and mandatory reporting records.
• Oral communication – to communicate concerns with supervisors and relevant authorities.
• Numeracy – to interpret basic timelines and record information accurately.
• Digital literacy – to access and navigate online learning environments and complete assessments.
You will require an internet capable smartphone, tablet or computer to complete the online components of the course.
All training and assessment materials will be provided online throughout the course. No specialised equipment or uniform is required.
